The US Coast Guard asked for our assistance to replace a Range Marker in the ocean just off Port Royal Sound which is a very dangerous environment with ever changing sea conditions. Myrick Marine collaborated to complete the installation quickly, as the jobsite could become hazardous with very little notice. For this project, Myrick provided the labor, materials and chartered equipment including a barge with crane and vibratory hammer for ocean work, as well as a large tug. We purchased the pipe for the pile and welded it based on the Coast Guard’s specifications. X-ray inspections of the welds were provided by a third party. Because the marker is an aid to navigation, exact placement of the pile was also an important issue; therefore, we constructed platforms for our survey party to work from in order to position the marker in the correct location.
